More than 60 local leaders strengthened their capacities in the workshop "Governance, local leadership and public management" held by PETROPERÚ and the Institute for Solidarity Promotion and Development - INPET, as part of the Iquitos Refinery Social Management Plan.

During the day, which was carried out in compliance with COVID-19 biosafety protocols, the participants were trained in the identification of important aspects for local development from a territorial approach. They also learned about the structure and operation of the State and the processes of management, planning, preparation and execution of projects.

Participating community and human settlement leaders highlighted this opportunity that has allowed them to strengthen their leadership and expand their knowledge of governance and public management. "It has been very interesting to participate in this workshop, because we have reviewed several issues that will contribute to improving our management," said Bruno Pizango, municipal agent of the Astoria Community, located on the banks of the Amazon River.

30% of the participants were women leaders of communities and human settlements in the area of influence of the Iquitos Refinery and Sales Plant, who now have better capacities to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of their locality, to improve the decision making.
