Invasion puts Punchana Sales Plant and neighboring communities at high risk

The invasion of an area of land owned by PETROPERÚ, in the Masusa area, generates concern and alarm, since it affects an area used to capture water and face the contingencies of the Punchana Sales Plant, putting at risk the integrity of the workers and residents of this industrial facility.

Faced with this risky situation, the state company has publicly denounced this illegal act and has requested the immediate intervention of the Provincial Municipality of Maynas and the district commune of Punchana in order to take the corresponding actions that violate the property of the State and put neighboring populations at risk.

Civil Defense personnel from the Municipality of Maynas carried out a verification visit to the invaded area, qualifying as a very high risk the illegal seizure of the PETROPERÚ land, since it does not allow free access to the water intake point that is part of the contingency system of the industrial plant where flammable products are stored.

PETROPERÚ, for its part, has filed a claim action before the Civil Court of Maynas, against the invader Rolando Macedo Macedo and the company Transporte Naviera Fluvial Morochita SRL, in order to claim and restore full possession of the land of his property.

Similarly, the state company reported that they will file a criminal complaint against the officials of the District Municipality of Punchana, for the crimes of omission of functions and abuse of authority, by allowing the illegal construction of a perimeter wall on the front of the land, without Have the construction license or authorization from PETROPERÚ as the owner of the land. They indicated that their repeated requests were not met.

It is expected that, in the coming days, the Iquitos Port Captaincy will carry out the corresponding inspection procedure on the invasion protest that PETROPERÚ sent on May 12, reporting the invasion of the water area of the state company, a situation that implies imminent risks to its infrastructure and ship bending operation.

PETROPERÚ will continue with the corresponding legal actions to recover the invaded land and guarantee the safety of its facilities, its workers and the communities near the Punchana Sales Plant, in Iquitos.
