Intentional cuts to the Pipeline increase
PETROPERÚ addresses the public opinion to inform the following:
- Since December 2021, the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP) has been facing intentional cuts to the Pipeline in Sections I and II, which to date total four, generating a similar number of environmental contingencies.
- As timely reported, on 12.31.2021 a cut to the Pipeline was identified at km 373, in the Condorcanqui province, Amazonas region - Section II of the ONP, on 01.21.2021 another cut occurred at km 59+131, Urarinas district, province and region of Loreto, and in recent weeks there have been two more cuts at km 24+320 and km 20+189, also in the Urarinas district, Loreto.
- In all these events, through its Contingency Plan, PETROPERÚ carried out the corresponding actions to send in personnel and attend to the emergency. Likewise, the supervisory bodies such as OEFA and OSINERGMIN have been informed within the legal deadlines.
- This situation is alarming due to the fact that these are criminal actions that attack the communities of the Amazon, generate great economic damage to PETROPERÚ and undermine the development of the hydrocarbon industry, affecting the country's economy.
- As background, in Section I, on the left bank of the Marañón River, between 2014 and 2018, five outages caused by third parties were recorded, located at km 15+300, km 20+190, km 20+204, km 24 +204 and km 24+880
- PETROPERÚ strongly rejects these acts perpetrated by unscrupulous people who threaten the infrastructure of a National Critical Asset of great importance for the development of the country.
- We welcome the participation of the Law Enforcement Forces for the support they provide us for the security of the ONP facilities and we request that the investigations into these criminal actions continue to identify and punish those responsible, in order to guarantee the safe operation and sustained transport of hydrocarbons that values the oil of the Amazon.
