Ilo fishermen were trained by PETROPERÚ in the handling of pota

It seeks to create new alternatives based on the use of this popular mollusk
Ilo fishermen were trained by PETROPERÚ in the handling of pota

Pota, the popular marine mollusk from the Peruvian coast, would become the main input for the production of nutrient-enriched hamburgers, giving it added value for its sales.

This will be possible thanks to an innovative training workshop, sponsored by PETROPERÚ, scheduled for this Tuesday 19, starting at 3:00 p.m., at the premises of the SUPABCPI – Ilo fishermen's union. Classes will run for five months.

In this way, it is sought that around 60 artisanal fishermen -and their families- develop an easy technology for the artisanal processing of squid, with trials and technical tests in the elaboration of enriched squid burgers, seeking to obtain a quality product, optimal and appreciable in potential markets.

It should be noted that, at present, the production of the "potera" fleet, in Ilo, is by capture and they sell it only fresh, limiting their production to that stage for not developing new techniques to provide added value. Through training, what is sought is to develop, adapt and improve a production technology and artisanal process of fishery products, tending to the squid as the main resource.

PETROPERÚ thus reaffirms its commitment to artisanal fishermen, who constitute one of the pillars of development in the province of Ilo. It is important to point out that the "National Program for Innovation in Fisheries and Aquaculture - PNIPA" promotes associativity, as a mechanism that facilitates the scalability, replicability and sustainability of the provision of technical, organizational and commercial innovation services in the market.

The participation of the State company is part of its Social Management Policy, becoming a link between the productive sectors of the State and the communities in their areas of influence.
