Hydrogen production plant of the New Talara Refinery is ready for commissioning

As part of the start-up tests of the New Talara Refinery, which began on April 12, it is planned to start up the Hydrogen Production/Purification Unit (PHP) in mid-May, the construction and equipping of which has been completed within scheduled, including tests of equipment with energy and fluids inside (commissioning), under the supervision of manufacturers and technologists.

Currently, the start-up activities of this auxiliary unit of the New Talara Refinery are being coordinated jointly with the contractor Cobra Synohidro, the licensor Haldor Topsoe and the main inspectors.

It is important to specify that, in accordance with the comprehensive scheme for the start-up of the New Talara Refinery, it will be necessary to have the hydrogen plant in the month of July of this year, which will not generate any delay in the corresponding activities. to the gradual and progressive start-up testing process of the modern refining complex.

The PHP is an auxiliary unit of great relevance for the New Talara Refinery. It is of Danish technology, from the Haldor Topsoe company. It will allow hydrogen to be produced in the most efficient way for the reduction of sulfur in diesel and gasoline. For its commissioning, it has the services of water, steam, hydrogen and electricity, among others.
