Groups of settlers take Station 1 of the North Peruvian Pipeline

On 15.05.2019, approximately 90 settlers from the native community of Saramurillo, armed with spears, took Station 1 of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP), located in the Saramuro town center, in the Loreto region.

The measure of force was adopted in an arbitrary and illegal manner and without any breach by PETROPERU, because on the contrary, it has been developing its activities in a framework of dialogue and promotion of social peace with the community and its authorities, and it is implementing the assumed commitments; as well as other social programs that are part of its business policy.

To date, the port facility has been blocked, with the loading and unloading of hydrocarbons paralyzed, as well as the dispatch of crude oil for the Iquitos Refinery; among other operations. It should be noted that the ONP is still in operation.

PETROPERU warns that if these acts of violence persist, there is a risk of suspending the Internal Inspection Service of Section I of the ONP with instrumented raspatubos and compliance with the deadlines granted by the inspection bodies for the maintenance of the facilities.

PETROPERU requests the urgent intervention of the authorities to restore social order, safeguard the integrity of the Company's personnel and its contractors.

Likewise, it invokes this group of people to depose their measure of force and maintain a respectful dialogue for the benefit of both parties.
