Gradual and progressive start-up of the New Talara Refinery will be carried out in a minimum of six months
On April 12, the gradual and progressive start-up tests of the New Talara Refinery began, a modern industrial complex of PETROPERÚ that will mark a new era in the development and processing of hydrocarbons in the country, by having the most advanced technologies of the world to produce clean fuels of optimum quality.
During the start-up tests, interconnections and systems required for the commissioning of 7,000 pieces of equipment and 35,000 instruments will be carried out, involved in this complex start-up process that will last a minimum of six months, until the stabilization and commissioning of the New Talara Refinery. This process is carried out in the same way in other refineries in the world with the same level of complexity.
The start-up process will be contractually in charge of the main contractors, after which the operation will be entirely assumed by PETROPERÚ.
It should be noted that the price of fuel is set based on market supply and demand, in which PETROPERÚ is one more wholesale operator. However, the improvement in its margins when the commissioning of the New Talara Refinery is at 100% will allow it to offer more competitive prices to the wholesale market, which will contribute to generating better offers in the national market.
PETROPERÚ's new refining complex, which replaces the emblematic Talara Refinery and its more than 100 years of history, has 16 process units and five packages of auxiliary units and complementary services, two liquid loading docks and 21 new storage tanks. storage, being one of the most modern deep conversion refineries on the South Pacific coast. It will produce fuels with up to 50 parts per million (ppm) of sulfur that will help preserve air quality and the health of Peruvians.
