Families of Loreto will benefit from the productive project for the breeding of small birds

In order to contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of the population near the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP), PETROPERÚ has implemented the productive project for raising small birds in five communities located in the districts of Manseriche, Barranca and Pastaza, in the province of Datem del Marañón, in Loreto.

The project will benefit 500 low-income families from the communities of May 6, Ungumayo, Barranca, July 28 and San Antonio, where a large part of the inhabitants speak Quechua and Shawi; For this reason, it has been planned that the specialists in charge, in addition to providing training in these native languages, also have extensive knowledge of the area.

The program, which will take place over eight weeks, will promote the strengthening, training, management, reproduction, feeding and health of small birds in a sustained manner. For this, a rooster and five hens per family will be delivered, which will be vaccinated together with those that already exist in the communities. The necessary feeders will also be implemented, and the food will be distributed for three months.

All of the above will be accompanied by a theoretical and practical methodology, in addition to monitoring and follow-up that will allow the beneficiaries to acquire the necessary skills and competencies for the care, hygiene and reproduction of these animals in the Amazonian environment.

In this way, the participating families will be able to increase and diversify their diet with the consumption of proteins of animal origin that favor better nutrition and can strengthen their immune system so that they are more protected against various diseases. It is also proposed to transfer knowledge about the management, control and prevention of common conditions in birds and the use of medications.

Likewise, it will seek to identify potential enterprises that derive from the project, for which it is considered to carry out training in local business management related to the proposal. To complement this aspect, an information guide will be designed to achieve its sustainability.

It should be noted that during the project, all the health and safety protocols contemplated for the prevention of Covid 19 will be applied, both for the trainers and for the population participating in the program.

This way, PETROPERÚ continues to promote productive projects that seek to improve the living conditions of the population close to its operations, respecting their customs and caring for their environment.
