Event in the 213 km of the North Peruvian Pipeline is under control

On June 24 an event was identified, which occurred on the 213 km of the North Peruvian Pipeline in the district of Barranca, province of the Datem del Marañon, Loreto. PETROPERU immediately put into action its contingency plan, and today can report that the event is controlled and that the crude did not reach any waterway.

In that sense, there is intense work going on the tasks of repair and remediation with the support of the specialized international contractors, in application of the contingency plan.

Meanwhile, the investigation to determine the causes and those responsible for this incident continues. It can be mentioned that the North Peruvian Pipeline is not carrying out crude pumping tasks, as these have been suspended for over 120 days, since the past February 16.

Likewise, the supervising and regulatory organisms have been informed, as well as the local authorities, on the tasks being performed.

PETROPERU ratifies its commitment to the preservation of the environment and is working on the repair and remediation tasks to solve this event in the shortest time possible. The Company will periodically report on the progress of the repair and remediation tasks.
