With the objective of generating and proposing strategies that allow the development of a more competitive tourism to promote Talara regionally, nationally and internationally, a workshop called "Elaboration of a technical proposal on the reactivation of tourism in the province of Talara was held. based on the sea resource."

This workshop was in charge of the specialists of the Tourism Training Center (CENFOTUR), who, on behalf of PETROPERU, are in Talara conducting a baseline study on the potential of the oil province, in coordination and active participation of local authorities and main actors of the tourism sector.

Participants of this first workshop were the representatives of the Provincial Municipality of Talara, the District Municipality of La Brea, the District Municipality of Lobitos, the Tourist Board of Talara, the Fishermen's Guild, the NGO Wafe for Developmen - Lobitos and local artisans.

The Research and Development Coordinator of CENFOTUR, Claudia Ore Butler, highlighted the participation of the entities involved in tourism, as this generates new contributions and projects that contribute to the sustainable development of this important sector.

In this regard, the deputy manager of Tourism Development of the Provincial Municipality of Talara, Erick Estrada Olivares, said that this initiative, promoted by the state company, is the starting point to promote the regeneration of downtrodden areas and preserve the cultural and natural heritage of Talara.

It should be noted that this tourism promotion project is carried out as part of the Community Relations Plan (PRC) of the Environmental Impact Study (EIA) of the Talara Refinery Modernization Project (PMRT) and is carried out in line with the declaration of the province as "Tourist Capital of Sun and Beach of the Piura Region".
