A party full of music and dance took place in the Plaza Grau of Talara during the II Interschool Competition of Folk Dances, organized as part of the Development and Promotion of Culture and Art of the Community Relations Plan (PRC) activities of the Environmental Impact Study (EIA) of the Talara Refinery Modernization Project (PMRT) of PETROPERU.
In an arduous competition, the Domingo Savio Educational Institution obtained the first place, with the dance "Halcones de Huamachuco". The school received a pennant, a laptop, a printer, a multimedia projector and a 60-inch TV as a prize.
The students of the I.E.P. Federico Villarreal took the second place with the dance "Canasteros de Urpay". The school received a 55-inch TV and a sound system as a reward for their effort and dedication.
The prizes given to educational institutions are of great value and usefulness, since they will serve to complement the educational work of the students and enhance their cultural workshops.
It should be noted that the final decision was made by a high-level qualifying jury, made up of Victor Lorgio Saavedra Chinchay of the Jose Maria Arguedas Cultural Association; Oscar Daniel Sandoval Jara, of the Institute of Art and Culture of the Universidad Nacional de Piura; Victor Samaniego Requena, director of Ballet Folclorico Piurano "Pepe Fernandez" and Cesar Chanduvi Imam, director of the Academia Hermanos Chanduvi. All of them are experts in music and dance subjects, with great experience in the region and in the country.
