Development of native communities is part of the PETROPERÚ commitment

PETROPERU ratifies its commitment to contribute to the development of the communities adjacent to its main operations and hopes, by 2020, to manage a model that will allow it to expand its project portfolio and address the closing of infrastructure gaps in Iquitos, Talara and Conchán, in addition to strengthening its presence along the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP).

Tomás Flores Noriega, Deputy Manager of Social Development of the oil company, expressed this during his participation in the seminar "Works for Taxes, Strategies to Implement Public Needs Infrastructure", where he presented the scope and projects that his sector has been applying in the ONP.

The official said that the primary Social Management issues are the mainstay of the company's relations with the communities surrounding the ONP and, to carry out this task successfully, he said, it was necessary to rebuild the relationship with these communities, offering opportunities of employment to the population. "To this end, articulation with the Executive has been sought, thus strengthening the presence of the State in areas where there has been a forgetfulness for many years," he said.

Flores Noriega added that it is in Loreto where PETROPERU has prioritized the financing of works, thanks to direct coordination with the authorities of seven districts, including Urarinas, Andoas or Pastaza.

These activities are carried out within the framework of the PETROPERU Social Management Plan, which seeks to promote a better quality of life in the populations and communities surrounding its operations.
