Crude leak in km. 371 of the North Peruvian Pipeline were contained

 

PETROPERU reports that it was possible to control the oil leakage at Km. 371 of Section II of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP), community of Tayuntsa, Condorcanqui province, Amazonas Region, near the Nieva River; after the criminal act suffered by the pipeline. The Contingency Plan could be carried out successfully, having had the necessary access conditions in these events.

At the same time, barriers have been placed to contain the spilled oil. Subsequently, the corresponding environmental cleaning and remediation tasks will be carried out. So far, no body of water has been affected by the contingency.

The contingency was caused by an intentional cut and investigations have been initiated by the competent authorities to find those responsible.

We will continue to report on the evolution of the situation and call on the residents to allow the Contingency Plan to continue its execution in a timely manner, in order to minimize the impacts on the environment, safeguarding the communities and the environment.
