Copa Poliducto returns to the jungle communities

After some time, in which face-to-face activities were suspended due to the pandemic, the long-awaited Copa Poliducto version 2023 returned to the native communities of the Amazon, a unique inter-community soccer championship that brings together the population near the Refinery area Iquitos of Petroperu.

This sporting event, organized by the oil company for more than a decade in the area, has brought together twelve Loreto communities this time, such as Picuro Yacu, Astoria, Barrio Florido, Costanera, Santo Tomás, Santa Clara I, Santa Clara II, Santa Clara III, El Milagro, Independencia, Santa Clotilde and Centro Arenal.

Recently, the inauguration of the championship was held in the Santa Clotilde community with the participation of all the delegations, arousing the interest of nearly a thousand people from the surrounding area, who were able to enjoy the first five matches of the championship, which will take place over five consecutive Sundays, culminating on September 3 with the final of the categories and the awarding of the winning teams.

It should be noted that this time teams made up of women are also participating, who on the opening day of the championship demonstrated their skill with the ball in a football match full of emotion and that will be repeated on the closing day.

It is important to note that these sporting events also promote small businesses in the communities, since several neighbors take advantage of these dates to sell various regional dishes and drinks, which allows additional income for their families.

In this way, Petroperú continues to promote integration activities with the populations close to its operations, where sports, responsibility and teamwork are encouraged among the communities, also achieving a better rapprochement and understanding with its stakeholders.
