Construction of the New Talara Refinery reports 45% progress
The construction of the new Talara Refinery of PETROPERU, the most important energy project of the country, is progressing at is good, and to date shows a progress of 45%, a percentage above what was is scheduled for this period (43.9%).
As part of the works being executed, is the installation of the equipment that will be part of the modern process units, which will allow to reduce the sulfur levels in fuels such as diesel, gasolines and GLP, to a maximum content of 50 parts per million of sulfur, contributing to improving the quality of air in the country.
The Spanish company Tecnicas Reunidas is participating in the construction of the new Talara Refinery as the main contractor, along with the most important the roofing companies of the construction sector, which are hiring considering the profiles of the required posts and the terms according to the progress of the work. As the structure, equipment and piping installation works are being developed, the participation of personnel from the metal mechanic sector will increase.
According to the schedule, the new Talara Refinery will start operations in June 2019 and will be ready to process heavy crudes, such as the ones extracted from the Peruvian forest, as well as performing deep conversions of the residue to valuable products (the cell, naphtha and GLP) and low octane to high octane gasoline, thanks to the new Flexicoking and catalytic reform units, licensed by Exxon Mobil and Axens, respectively.
This way, the new Talara Refinery will produce environmentally friendly fuels, contributing to improving the quality of air and significantly reducing the expenditure in health of Peruvians due to diseases produced environmental contamination.
