Construction of the New Talara Refinery progressing as a scheduled
Hiring of local personnel is being in accordance with Environmental Impact Study.
The construction of the new Talara Refinery continues progressing as scheduled. To date, it presents a progress of 42.6%, slightly higher than planned for this period (41.4%). The new equipment coming from Asia, Europe and North America are being installed in the areas where the modern industrial plants will be located.
It’s me until now, 26 process equipment have been installed, among them heat exchangers, recipients and reactors. The heaviest equipment that arrived at the new Talara Refinery weigh approximately 315 tons. In the first trimester of next year, is expected to receive the FCK-R-101 reactor for the Flexicoking Unit, whose dimensions are 67 m long and a weight above 800 tons.
Currently 3,171 people work in the execution of the Talara Refinery Modernization Project (PMRT), of which 90% of the unqualified labor and 37% of the qualified labor are Talara natives. The percentage for unqualified labor is above what was established in the Environmental Impact Study (EIA) for the PMRT, which established a minimum of 70%.
According to the labor hiring estimates for the present year, the maximum peak of personnel working will occur in the month of September, with an estimated amount of 4,500 people, most of them being qualified personnel, and unqualified personnel providing support labor.
The Local Committee of the Community Relationship Plan of the EIA, presided by the major and made up a representatives of the civil society, are working permanently to guarantee the compliance of the percentages established in the EIA for the hiring of local labor.
