Construction of the new refinery registers a progress of more than 94%

The construction of the new Talara Refinery continues to progress, beginning with its start-up at the end of November. The works, which to date register an integral advance of 94.61%, are executed in compliance with strict protocols approved and established in the COVID-19 surveillance, prevention and control plans for this project, which are aligned with Ministerial Resolution RM- 972-2020-MINSA.

This was confirmed by the General Manager of PETROPERÚ, Carlos Barrientos Gonzales, during the visit made to the Talara Refinery facilities, where more than seven thousand people currently work, under permanent medical surveillance, a task that is under the care of 190 people who make up the teams of PETROPERÚ, the contractors and subcontractors.

During his tour, accompanied by the Talara Refinery Manager, Jorge Alméstar Mauricio, Barrientos Gonzales verified the construction work of the Auxiliary Units and complementary works, among which are the Hydrogen Plant, the Electricity and Steam Generation Unit, the Tablazo Electric Substation, the Control Room, as well as the facilities of the workshops and warehouses of the new refinery complex.

The construction of the Auxiliary Units and complementary works will provide resources such as water, steam production and electrical energy to the new Talara Refinery, which in the last quarter of this year will gradually begin its start-up.

The new Talara Refinery will be one of the most modern refineries on the southern Pacific coast. This way, the modern PETROPERÚ refinery complex will meet the new demands of the international energy market, producing cleaner fuels that ensure the preservation of the air and the health of all Peruvians.
