Construction of New Refinery Talara has a progrance near 70%

The construction of the new Talara Refinery registers an advance of 69.96% as of July 6, 2018. The works that are being executed will allow to have 16 modern units in which heavy crude will be processed, in order to produce more fuels more clean that guarantee the preservation of the country's air quality.

The modern process units will allow the reduction of sulfur levels in fuels such as diesel, gasoline and LPG, to a maximum content of 50 parts per million of sulfur. Likewise, they will contribute to the new Talara Refinery having an installed capacity to process 95 thousand barrels per day in order to supply the national market.

In the works carried out so far, 1,280 devices out of a total of 1,300 of the highest technology have been installed, manufactured in Europe, Asia and North America. Likewise, it has been completed with the construction of 21 new tanks and the modification of another 13 that will guarantee the supply of this industrial complex.

During the execution of the PMRT, PETROPERU has strictly complied with what is indicated in the Community Relations Plan (PRC) of the Environmental Impact Study (EIA) since the start of the Talara Refinery Modernization Project (PMRT), in May 2014. This has been verified by the inspection bodies.

In the same vein, PETROPERU has confirmed that the Cobra S.C.L. Consortium, which will be in charge of the construction of auxiliary units, will guarantee the hiring of local labor, in accordance with the provisions of the PMRT EIA.

As part of this labor hiring process in the area, the Local Committee participates in the review of job profiles achieved by the various contractors of the PMRT and makes suggestions that PETROPERU takes into account and transmits to improve as much as possible the calls and profiles in order to guarantee the priority for the local workforce.

However, to strengthen transparency in the sessions of the Local Committee, PETROPERU has proposed that, as of August of this year, its meetings be broadcast live and direct over the Internet, and that they be carried out with the presence of media.

Likewise, PETROPERU has stated that it will continue to maintain close communication with the local community to publicize the progress of the project, gather the opinions of the society of Talamanca and make its best effort to meet the expectations of the population.

Contributing to the development of Talara

As part of its social responsibility actions, PETROPERU has improved the road infrastructure of Talara through execution of works and donation of asphalt. The Company has invested in the integral improvement of Av. G and has donated asphalt to improve avenues A, B and C. Likewise, in the Contract signed with Tecnicas Reunidas, PETROPERU established the repair of some roads that make up the main avenues of the city, which have been executed after the Coastal El Niño in 2017. Those roads are: Av. F (from Ovalo Punta Arenas to Ovalo Talara Alta), Av. Industrial Zone of Talara Alta, Av. D, Av. E, Av. Martires Petroleros, Av. Heroes del Cenepa and has remodeled the entrance to the city.

It also carries out actions that contribute to the strengthening of education, health and the quality of life of the Talara people. It also makes important efforts to promote art, culture and sports.
