Conchán Refinery of PETROPERU provides safety training to over 500 drivers

PETROPERU periodically trains hundreds of tanker drivers to benefit the safety of fuel loading operations at Conchán Refinery. So far this year, there are already more than half thousand drivers properly trained in the facilities of this plant for their own safety and that of the personnel involved in these tasks.

The talks that promote compliance with all the security measures required by an industrial facility of this type seek to ensure that the drivers of the tankers who come to the Conchán Sales Plant to purchase fuels are treated in a safe manner.

So far this year, more than one hundred induction talks have been conducted, both for drivers who arrive for the first time at the plant and for frequent drivers to reinforce their previous training. Thus, they know all the operative part of the dispatch procedure with emphasis on the security measures that must be met during each stage of the process.

In this way, the drivers of fuel transport companies are aware, from the administrative aspects to correctly carry out their order, through the use of their personal protective equipment (PPE), the review of vehicle documents - such as license and work insurance - until the verification of spare tires and fire extinguishers, among others.

In addition, they are taught the correct way to load fuels on the islands of dispatch, always using their PPE and under the supervision of a qualified dispatcher.

With these trainings drivers already know all the route they have to do when they arrive at the plant, both for the dispatch of gasoline and diesel, as for asphalt and waste. In this way, it has been possible to avoid incidents and reduce the risk to the maximum.

It should be noted that the Conchán Sales Plant serves an average of 250 tank trucks and dispatches more than 40 thousand barrels of fuel per day. Also, with the process of automating the service, the time of attention is significantly reduced, with the current average being 45 minutes for each tanker truck of nine thousand gallons.
