Communities of Morona already have poultry health promoters
- Villagers will be able to optimize their breeding and bird disease prevention techniques.
PETROPERU, in coordination with the Directorate of Agrarian Health (SENASA), developed two training sessions in poultry health on September 4 and 5, aimed at optimizing the techniques of raising birds in the Datem del Marañón area. The activity was attended by more than 60 residents of the communities of San Francisco, Santa Rosa del Maranon, Antena 4, Copacabana, Puerto America, Puerto Libre, Dos Hermanos, Nueva Union y San Martin, Tierra Blanca, and San Martin, among others
The training, carried out by SENASA personnel, took place in Puerto América and Puerto Alegría, and included the monitoring of sick birds to determine the conditions present in the area and to prepare the annual vaccination calendar.
On Thursday, September 6, a vaccination campaign was initiated for all the Creole birds (commonly called backyard birds) of the beneficiary communities, an activity that will culminate on September 17.
This initiative is a previous activity of the productive poultry project promoted by the state oil company since the beginning of the year, which will benefit more than 800 families in the district of Morona, which is next to the North Peruvian Pipeline.
It is important to mention that - in compliance with the commitments assumed by PETROPERU, through agreements with the contingency communities of Km 206 of the North Branch Pipeline (ORN) - this project will transfer technified knowledge to local producers, contributing to the search of food alternatives in the area.
