Communities agree to work together with Petroperú to attend contingency in km 177 of the ONP
The communities in the area of kilometer 177 of the North Branch of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP), Morona district, Datem del Marañón province of the Loreto region, reached agreements with Petroperú to address the environmental contingency that took place on September 11.
As stated in the minutes of the meeting held in the city of San Lorenzo on Tuesday, September 27, the authorities of the Shoroya Nuevo, Patria Nueva, Mayuriaga, Musa Kandashi, Fernando Rosas and Arutan communities agreed to work together with of Petroperú and the contractor that will carry out the first response work.
With the participation of the communities, Petroperú will be able to enter the area to carry out cleaning tasks, definitive repair of the pipeline and restoration of the environment, in accordance with the provisions of the Contingency Plan approved by the competent bodies.
As it is recalled, when this environmental contingency occurred, Petroperú acted immediately by closing the oil leak point, however, it was necessary to agree on subsequent work with the communities so that the first response work could continue.
Petroperú ratifies its commitment to native communities and care for the environment, as well as ensuring proper compliance with its Contingency Plans to restore the environment to its usual conditions.
