Communication 017- 2018
Before the recent publication of a Communication by the Provincial Municipality of Talara entitled "Petroperu is one of the main tax debtors of the Municipality of Talara", we address the public to report that:
- Our Company strictly complies with its tax obligations. To date, PETROPERU has no pending tax debt for the property tax or municipal taxes with the Provincial Municipality of Talara. These taxes are determined by explicit technical and legal criteria, by virtue of which PETROPERU recognizes its debt and complies with its payment in accordance with the law and within the corresponding terms.
- As a state company, our commitment is to contribute to the country through the taxes generated by our operations. In line with this, we are the main contributor to the hydrocarbons sector and we are among the main taxpayers of Peru.
- It is important to specify that cases of a tax nature or relative to sanctions of supervisory bodies that PETROPERU has judicialized have sufficient evidence and technical and legal support.
- PETROPERU has always been and is willing to dialogue and reconcile any differences with the Provincial Municipality of Talara. It also maintains its best disposition to support it in everything that is within its reach, as well as our neighbors from Talamanca.
- Proof of this is that -as in previous opportunities- the Company has paid in advance its municipal taxes for 2018, has financed the study of urban redesign of the city and the training of municipal officials in public management, performs the asphalting of roads communication in the city, among other actions.
- Likewise, PETROPERU has been developing important social responsibility programs in Talara, aimed at promoting tourism, supporting the improvement of the decoration and disposal of solid waste in the city, carrying out activities to support health, education and local culture, as well as as to the promotion of productive capacities in Talara.
