Cleanup of critical points of Talara reports progress of 20%

11 effective days after having begun the works of cleaning of solid waste in 16 of the 47 critical points identified, as part of the project “Support to the Provincial Municipality of Talara in the Management of Solid Waste of the City”, these register an advance of eradication of 20%, having eliminated 1,675 m3 of waste.

This was reported by the Corporate Manager Social Management and Communications of PETROPERU, Beatriz Alva Hart, during the ceremony of delivering 18 garbage containers to the Provincial Municipality in line with the support that the state company provides to the commune to make Talara a clean city for its neighbors and attractive for tourism.

Among the first 16 intervened points are: the Yale gorge, Maruja Sullón esplanade, the Nuevo Horizonte ravine, the patero channel in the Mercado Modelo, Urb. South America and the side of Salaverry College in Satellite City.

Delivery of containers

As part of the implementation of the project, PETROPERU delivered, to the Provincial Municipality of Talara, 18 containers of 1,100 liters of capacity, of UV-resistant plastic material, for the temporary collection of waste generated in the critical areas identified as Part of this project.

These containers will be compatible with the container lift system with which the solid waste compactor trucks of the Provincial Municipality of Talara have.

The Ministry of Environment (MINAM), suggests the use of containers in waste management activities as they allow solid waste to be collected by avoiding waste accumulations in several areas; It reduces and optimizes the collection time, improves productivity and reduces the exposure of personnel in charge of solid waste that causes injuries and/or illnesses.

After the diagnosis made by PETROPERU, the installation of 200 containers is suggested, so this delivery of 18 units by PETROPERU will mark the beginning of a coordinated work between the local authority and other companies with operations in Talara to achieve the goal together to have a clean, healthy and attractive city.

Medical examination

From Thursday, November 14, the 200 pre-selected people from Talara began to take part in the cleaning work for the following two months, that is, from December 23 to February 22, 2020.
