Cleaning of critical points will resume when public health and safety conditions exist
PETROPERU complies with informing the public opinion of the following:
- In compliance with the State of National Emergency to prevent the expansion of COVID-19, ordered by the Executive, PETROPERU suspended its contracted activities and services, except for those that guarantee the industrial safety of its facilities and equipment.
- In this sense, the “Project to Support the Provincial Municipality of Talara in the Solid Waste Management of the city” temporarily suspended the cleaning of critical points in the city in order to safeguard the health of the workers and their families.
- In accordance with the provision of the National Government not to affect the labor rights of workers, the 200 cleaning promoters who had been executing the service during the March-April period received the payment of wages corresponding to the month of March in a timely and complete manner. , despite the fact that fifteen (15) days were effectively worked.
- PETROPERU, in coordination with the contractor, have been preparing a plan to restart activities, considering the implementation of preventive measures in order to minimize the risks and probability of COVID-19 contagion, providing adequate health conditions for the execution of the work of cleaning.
- Likewise, the state company will evaluate the progressive reactivation of its contracted services, when the Executive decrees it and the public health and safety conditions necessary to protect the health of the workers are in place. Thus, at that time, the cleaning promoters of the March-April period will be able to compensate and complete their bi-monthly work period.
- It is important to mention that the “Critical Points Cleaning Project” is executed by PETROPERU, in support of the Provincial Municipality of Talara, as part of the Community Relations Plan of the Environmental Impact Study of the Talara Refinery Modernization Project, with the objective of make Talara a clean and attractive city for its neighbors and for tourism, generating 1,200 jobs for local people.
