Chapis community obliges to stop the remediation in km 221 of the Northern Ramal Oil Pipeline

PETROPERU addresses public opinion to report the following:

1. Today, August 5, the community of Chapis, Loreto, initiated the measure of force announced in its communiqué of July 31, forcing the suspension of the remediation work at Km. 221 of the North Branch Pipeline (ORN) under the responsibility of the KANAY SAC Company, hired by PETROPERU to attend to the contingency that occurred last November 8th.
2. The platform of the measure of force are requirements to the Government to meet educational and health needs, for which purpose the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) has convened a meeting on August 10.
3. PETROPERU invokes the authorities and population of Chapis to put aside the measure of force and exhaust the dialogue route to solve their requirements and allow the remediation work to be completed in the shortest time possible in order to restore the environment to its normal operating conditions to limit risks to health and the environment in the area.
