Catalytic Cracking unit of the New Talara Refinery began start-up maneuvers
Petroperú informs that the Fluidized Catalytic Cracking Unit (FCC) of the New Talara Refinery (NRT) began its start-up maneuvers normally on the night of Friday, September 22, after having completed an exhaustive inspection and repair of the minimal material damage caused. due to the emergency that occurred yesterday morning at the aforementioned conversion plant. The starting maneuvers will conclude on Sunday, September 24.
As reported at the time, the incident was immediately controlled by the company's personnel, who are trained and qualified to counteract this type of emergency, without recording significant personal or material damage. Likewise, the automatic security systems that the refinery has and the emergency plans worked and protected the integrity of the FCC unit and its auxiliary equipment.
Prior to the start of the start-up process of the FCC unit, Petroperú has provided access facilities to the event area to the supervisory authorities such as the Supervisory Body for Investment in Energy and Mining (Osinergmin), the Evaluation and Supervision Body Environmental (OEFA) and the National Superintendency of Labor Supervision (Sunafil), and the information required by them within the established deadlines.
It should be noted that the rest of the NRT process units were not affected, so the operation was not interrupted at any time during or after the event. In this sense, the supply of fuels such as high octane gasoline, diesel and LPG will not be impacted.
In this way, the NRT continues its stage of operation and optimization of its processes, producing fuels of the highest quality.
NRT complies with start-up permits
It is important to reiterate that the NRT complies with the required permits and that the start-up and commissioning work of the new refining complex has been carried out considering the highest safety standards defined in the industry, which are verified by the international licensors of the technology implemented.
Likewise, it has and always has had its comprehensive insurance policy which has coverage greater than that required by current regulations. In addition to the comprehensive insurance policy, each NRT unit has a coverage policy for the construction and start-up stage.
Petroperú specifies that during the engineering stage and prior to the construction of each of the process and auxiliary units of the NRT, it timely presented to Osinergmin the individual risk studies for each of the plants, and at the end of the engineering, completed the preparation of its Comprehensive Risk Study and Emergency Response Plan of the NRT, documents that are in the process of review by the specialized teams of Osinergmin and Petroperú.
