Blocking of the North Peruvian Pipeline affects the national oil production

Blocking of the North Peruvian Pipeline affects the national oil production

PETROPERU addresses the public opinion to report the following:

  1. The leaders of the community of Mayuriaga, in the district of Morona, continue to impair the repair of the pipeline that they acknowledged in writing to have damaged on November 27, 2018. This happens after a meeting held today with a commission led by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM).
  2. They condition the repair of the pipeline to the presence of several State Ministers and the requirement to have the tools to manipulate the vice that seals and reinforces the breakdown, an unfeasible situation since it puts at risk the safe operation of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP).
  3. Since November 27, the operation of the ONP has been suspended, affecting the national oil production. At the same time, for nine (9) days, the oil spill has continued at Km 193, with serious risks to the environment and the health of nearby communities.
  4. PETROPERU invokes the pertinent authorities to guarantee the safety of the Company's personnel, its contractors and the population in general; as well as safeguarding the integrity of the pipeline infrastructure by being a critical national asset. At the same time, he urges the communal authorities to re-establish dialogue and cease these unnecessary measures of force.
