Blockade of port facilities in Station 1 of the ONP could affect the fuel supply in the Loreto region

According to what was recently reported, around 90 residents of the Saramurillo native community blocked the port facilities of Station 1 of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP) located in the town of Saramuro, in the Loreto región, on the 15th of this month. As a result, crude shipments for the Iquitos Refinery and the receipt of crude from Lots 8 (Yanayacu) and 67 were paralyzed.

Likewise, other activities related to scheduled maintenance of the facilities have been stopped, which have peremptory deadlines assigned by the auditing bodies.

Faced with this situation, PETROPERU warns that this arbitrary and illegal measure of force puts the supply of hydrocarbons at the Iquitos Refinery at serious risk, which could lead to the cessation of its activities, resulting in the shortage of fuels in the Loreto Region.

In addition, the supply of electric power in the city of Iquitos, among other important activities, would be endangered.

Given the serious consequences, PETROPERU exhorts the community and its authorities to resume the path of respectful dialogue, to which it constantly invokes.

Likewise, it requests the urgent intervention of the authorities to restore social order, safeguard the integrity of the company's personnel and avoid an eminent shortage in the Loreto Region, which would affect the normal development of the activities and, undoubtedly, the local and national economy.
