Barrio Florido got first place in the “2019 Intercommunities Soccer Championship”

As part of PETROPERU’s Social Management Plan, on Sunday December 1, the last date of the “Major Intercommunities Soccer Championship 2019” was held in Iquitos. The event was held on the Santa Clotilde community court.

The championship lasted eight dates and invited the participation of the 13 communities in the Iquitos Refinery area of influence, with 14 teams participating: Santa Clara I, Santa Clara II, Santa Clara III, Santa María del Ojeal, Barrio Florido, Porvenir, Picuro Yacu , Santa Clotilde, Astoria, Costanera, El Milagro, Independencia, Porvenir and Centro Arenal. In addition, for the second consecutive year, there were two female teams, made up of women from the 13 communities, promoting gender integration and equality in the sport.

After more than a month of intense matches, the teams from Barrio Florido, Santa Clara III and Santa María del Ojeal, respectively, won the first, second and third place.

This activity aims to strengthen relations with populations close to Iquitos Refinery through the practice and promotion of sport, fostering fellowship between neighboring communities and PETROPERU.
