Bad weather prevents visit of premier Villanueva and three state ministers to communities of Loreto
The terrible weather conditions prevented a working visit from the President of the Council of Ministers, César Villanueva, to the communities of Chapis and Santa Rosa, in the Loreto region.
The premier was accompanied by Zulema Tomás Gonzales, Minister of Health, Liliana La Rosa, Minister of Development and Social Inclusion and Francisco Ísmodes, Minister of Energy and Mines, as well as two deputy ministers. They comprised a Multisector Commission with a total of 18 senior officials from the Ministries of Health, Culture, Environment, Energy and Mines, Agriculture, Development and Social and Internal Inclusion; in addition to FONCODES, PETROPERU, among other public entities.
The Peruvian Air Force helicopter in which the multisectorial commission was traveling, was not able to leave at 8am, as scheduled, due to the intense rains registered in the area. However, towards midday a possibility appeared and the aircraft tried to fly over the mountain range but had to return to the city of Tarapoto due to excessive cloud cover, which put at risk the security of the Premier and his entourage.
The purpose of the visit was to hold meetings with leaders of both native communities, report on the sectoral advances in the district of Manseriche, and receive orders from local populations. Also, supervise medical campaigns and the delivery of water and food by PETROPERU to communities in the area.
In spite of the above, it was reported that the visit was rescheduled for Tuesday, January 22, in order to comply with the agreed meetings and review the commitments established by the State with the native communities.
