Authorities of Loreto visited Iquitos Refinery of PETROPERU

The Iquitos Refinery, set on the banks of the Amazon River just 14 km from the city of Iquitos, received the Prefect of the Loreto Region Waldo Marina Ojanama, the subprefectos district and provincial, as well as representatives of the Women's Emergency Center and the Public Ministry.

During the tour of the refinery facilities, the delegation was able to identify the processes developed to produce and distribute the fuels in the Amazon; specifically to the Loreto, San Martín and Ucayali regions, as well as to populations on the border with Colombia and Brazil.

Also, they explained how the operation of Iquitos Refinery drives the development of the forest thanks to the supply of gasoline for engines, turbo A-1 for airplanes, Diesel 2 and industrial oils, with which electric power is generated for the city of Iquitos

During his visit, the officials received the greeting of the General Manager of PETROPERU, Mr. Esteban Bertarelli Bustamante and the Sub-Manager of Refineria Selva, Mr. Oscar Vera Gargurevich, who highlighted the mission of Petroperu and the dynamism of the operation. Bertarelli pointed out that "today's times not only force us to overcome the complex geography of the jungle, but also to face the social conjuncture; so we must be very creative and tenacious to meet the demand for fuel in the region."

On this day, the security policy that PETROPERU follows in each of its activities was also announced, preventing and protecting the health and integrity of all its workers. Additionally, the commitment and work in harmony with the environment and the Social Management Policy of the Company were highlighted; destined to promote activities that reinforce the development and progress of the Peruvian Amazon.
