Authorities confirm that the attack was carried out with a mechanical tool.
- Petroperú is demanding that communities allow the metal clamp to be placed over the intentional perforation.

Authorities and regulatory agencies confirmed that the recent crude oil leak at kilometer 315 of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP) in Manseriche, Dátem del Marañón, in the Loreto region, was caused by an intentional puncture in the pipeline. This was verified by the Energy and Mining Investment Supervisory Agency (Osinergmin), the Peruvian National Police, and the Public Prosecutor's Office, through the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office (FEMA).
In its inspection report, Osinergmin noted that "the existence of a hole drilled with a mechanical drill was verified, evidencing the intervention of a third party."
During the inspection, the metal clamp containing the leak was removed. However, residents, along with their community leaders and authorities, prevented its reinstallation due to dissatisfaction with the results of the inspection. This action was recorded in the inspection reports, and the Public Prosecutor's Office warned those involved about the legal implications of their conduct and the risk of leaving the pipeline unsealed.
Petroperú reiterates that it has not attributed responsibility to any person or entity and has asked the authorities to continue the investigation to identify those responsible. It is also in dialogue with municipal authorities to allow technical personnel access, reinstall the metal clamp, and carry out the cleaning work.
