Artisanal fishermen will benefit with technological innovation thanks to PETROPERU
- Support will be for the Fishermen's Guild of San Pedro, in Talara
The artisanal fishermen's association of San Pedro, in the district of Pariñas, Talara - through a PETROPERU initiative - will benefit from the provision and implementation of on-board cooling systems in four vessels, which will allow maintaining an optimum temperature, and without jeopardizing the cold chain, the marine species they obtain.
Each of the boats will have a team on board, which will allow increasing catches, thus obtaining an economic benefit for those who work in craft boats.
Within the framework of the National Program of Innovation in Fisheries and Aquaculture (PNIPA), PETROPERU joins this program through the generation of proposals that have an impact on improving innovations in artisanal fisheries. The proposal includes training in handling and maintenance of cold system equipment on board, as well as improving the organizational management of the fishermen's guild.
The initiative is carried out jointly with the Ministry of Production, through the National Program of Innovation in Fisheries and Aquaculture (PNIPA); the Antenor Orrego Private University (UPAO) and MET Management Engineering and Technology Services (MET PERU). These entities come together to carry out joint work with their specialists in cold chain fishing issues. The execution of the project will allow the preservation of the fishing that they carry out immediately, allowing them a greater variety of preserved products.
This initiative is part of the articulating function of the state oil company, aimed at making viable development, technology and innovation projects, for the benefit of its stakeholders. In that sense, and as part of its Social Management Plan, it promotes the association and formalization of the artisanal fishermen's association of Talara.
