Amazon communities benefit from PETROPERÚ's social advocacy program

Officials from the municipalities of Condorcanqui and Imaza, in the Amazon region, as well as representatives of the local governments of Datem del Marañón, Manseriche and Urarinas, in Loreto, participated in bilateral meetings to present their local agenda items.

All this within the framework of the Social Advocacy and Government Coordination Program, developed by PETROPERÚ with the support of the Continental University and in which representatives of the ministries of Energy and Mines (MINEM) and of Health (MINSA) also participated.

Local governments reached agreements that will make it possible to promote progress in their municipal management, which will translate into better benefits for their localities. For example, in the case of MINEM, the central issue was rural electrification. In this sense, this sector has been implementing home photovoltaic systems or solar panels in communities in the Amazon that are not connected to electrical networks.

In turn, MINSA representatives specified that this sector will provide technical assistance to the physical and legal sanitation of properties for health projects and reformulation of projects in the municipalities of Urarinas and Datem de Marañon, respectively.

An upcoming meeting will also be coordinated between the Regional Government of Amazonas, DIRESA Amazonas, PRONIS and the Municipalities of Imaza and Condorcanqui, to discuss various topics such as, for example, investment planning and prioritization.

It should be noted that, among the achievements made in these conferences, in this case with the Ministry of Education, is to cover the demand for literacy for the inhabitants of Urarinas. Simultaneously, a similar collaboration is being managed with the municipality of Datem del Marañón.

In this first stage of the program, local governments have been able to coordinate with six sectors: regional governments, PCM, MINEDU, MINEM, MTC and MINSA, through 28 bilateral meetings that have allowed important advances in the presentation and financing of their projects, with a more efficient management in the project platforms and generate future collaborations for the benefit of their localities.
