Altamesa will be Petroperú's strategic partner in Lot 192
Through Supreme Decree No. 005-2024-EM, published today in the El Peruano official newspaper, the Executive approved the modification of the License Contract for the Exploitation of Hydrocarbons in Lot 192, signed between Petroperú and Perupetro, in February 2023.
According to the standard, the Canadian company Altamesa Energy Perú S.A.C. will become the strategic operating partner in the exploitation of the country's main crude oil producing field, with a 61% participation in the hydrocarbon exploitation contract.
In this sense, the Executive authorized Perupetro to sign with Petroperú and Altamesa the modification of the aforementioned contract, an act that will be carried out in the coming days.
Likewise, as part of the contractual modification, 21 additional development wells will be incorporated into the work program for the first period of the exploitation phase, established in the initial contract.
Lot 192
Lot 192 is located in the district of Andoas, province of Datem del Marañón, districts of Tigre and Trompeteros, in the Loreto region and has an area of 512’347,241 hectares, which includes what was Lot 1AB and incorporates additional areas for exploration .
This lot is the one with the highest accumulated production in the Marañón basin, with 737 million barrels of oil produced and one of the lots with highest production in the Peruvian jungle.
Since it took over its operation, the State company has been carrying out pre-operational work for the reactivation of this oil field that went through a long period of paralysis.
Together with its operating partner, Petroperú hopes to resume production activities in the second half of this year.
