A new literary space opens: "COPErsaciones de Oro"

Starting next August 15, the PETROPERU Cultural Center will carry out an online interview program called "COPErsaciones de Oro" (“Gold COPErsations”), in reference to the winners of the first place in the Copé Award literary contest, organized by the Company. The cycle will include interviews with each one of the 21 winners in the Short Story genre, from 1979 to this year.

Each one of the "COPErsations" will consist of a presentation of the interviewee, the conversation itself, the comments that will be in charge of prominent national or foreign specialists and researchers who will meet each date.

Writers such as Julio Ortega, Óscar Colchado, Cronwell Jara, Luis Nieto Degregori, Fernando Iwasaki, Selenco Vega, Johann Page, Stuart Flores, among others, will meet every week in this cycle starting on August 15, 2020, all Saturdays at 11 am (Lima time) through the Facebook live of the PETROPERU Cultural Center. The interviews will be conducted by the Peruvian writer and researcher and also the Silver Copé Award in the Short Story genre, Juan Manuel Chávez, who lives in Barcelona.

For the month of August, the interviewees will be Dr. Rocío Quispe-Agnoli (Professor of Spanish-American Colonial Studies in the Department of Romance and Classical Studies at Michigan State University) in recognition of the work of the first winner of the Washington Delgado Copé Story Award and the winners of the Copé of the second and third short story editions Julio Ortega and Óscar Colchado, respectively. The comments on each date in August and consecutively will be in charge of Alessandra Tenorio (poet and university professor), Pepa Novell (Dr. in Hispanic Studies from the University of Brown and a degree in Hispanic Philology from the University of Barcelona) and Sonia Rico (Psychologist, writer and transformational coach).

This cycle of interviews is based on the dissemination of the book published in 2019 by Ediciones Copé with the title “20 tales of gold. Winning stories in the forty years of the Copé Award”, as part of the constant literary promotion in Peru developed by PETROPERU and the main literary competition in the country.
