The North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP) has suffered a new cut. This time, at kilometer 104 of Section I, located in the district of Pastaza, province of Datem del Marañón, Loreto region.

After learning of the facts, through the authorities of the Naranjal native community, Petroperú personnel went to the place, finding five intentional cuts in the ONP pipe, one of which generated the oil spill in the area.

In line with its Contingency Plan, Petroperú personnel placed a metal clamp to contain the leak of crude oil. Subsequently, the remediation work will be carried out in the flotation channel, where the spilled crude after the cut has been contained.

It was necessary to indicate that prior to these works, the residents of Naranjal prevented the entry of the Petroperú first response team, demanding that they hire a company designated by them, with which the activities of laying and controlling barriers were carried out.

As previously reported, Section I of the ONP has been paralyzed since February 2022, given the more than 40 outages caused by third parties between December 2021 and July 2022, attacks that have been confirmed and are being investigated by the National Police. of Peru (PNP) and the Public Ministry.

After this new cut to the ONP, Petroperú has requested the PNP, through the San Lorenzo police station, to verify the fact and has promptly informed the Environmental Assessment and Control Agency (OEFA) and the Energy Investment Supervisory Agency. and Mining (Osinergmin).
